Do you have links to great tutorials and articles on web and video topics that use Adobe’s products? For now, please send us your links in the comments of this page (below)! We might talk about your tutorial on this blog, add your tutorial to our Adobe del.icio.us links, and in some special cases we might even talk to you about publishing your work in the Design Center. In the future, we’ll have more details on this blog about our template for submitting your own tutorials to the Adobe Design Center if you’re interested in doing so.
If you’re sending a link to your own tutorial for consideration, please make sure that you use an email address that you check! That email address won’t appear publicly in the comments of this page.
Note: We don’t always send personal responses to every message, but we do read each and every one of them and appreciate your feedback, participation, and links.

Hi - I’ve got a question about how to do something re: website design/development. I have CS-3 Master edition and am an absolute beginner. I’m designing a website ( and want it to have one of those cool flash intro’s. With the animation and then you can click to enter the site. Where can I find instructions on how to create this?
Also all files only on my PC. Do I need to upload site to hosting server or have server technology installed on my computer to create this?
Help!

Is there a way i can become a community expert.
October 12th, 2007 at 9:01 am
Hi Deborah:
Creating an animated Flash intro takes a variety of Flash skills - you’ll need to learn the fundamentals, and then learn about animation. What your intro specifically contains will drive what skills you need to learn. I would start by clicking the “Tutorials” tab at the top of this blog, and following the tutorials under the Flash > Getting Started section (I wrote a three part series there that will take you through many of the fundamental skills you need to learn, and a bit about animation). Then I’d recommend going to the Adobe Video Workshop (www.adobe.com/go/video_workshop), and going through some of the animation tutorials there (select the Flash product, then Animation topic from the filters at the top).

Hi Gaurav,
I’d love links to some of the content you’ve written on video and Flash. My team is looking for content out there in the community currently to link to or put on the Design Center if it’s something we haven’t covered yet. If you have something like that, please feel free to link to it here and we can go from there. Great to hear you’re focusing on that area!
I don’t know much about the Community Expert program, but there is some information here: http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ I believe one part of it is actively participating on the User Forums, and they make selections from there (but there’s more info on those pages about how to become one).
HTH,
Jen.

Dear Jen,
I would like to submit for your consideration the new ActionScript 3 Tutorials site at:
http://www.flashandmath.com
This new site grew out of a project by me and Doug Ensley of Shippensburg University. This ongoing project is sponsored by the NSF and the MAA. The purpose of it is to teach math and science educators how to create high-functionality, interactive web-based learning materials using Adobe Flash.
We post tutorials on the above mentioned site. More advanced applications, we post with complete source code at the MathDL Flash Forum, our nook at the Mathematical Sciences Digital Library:
http://www.mathflashforum.org
As a sample of a more advanced Flash applet, you might want to check out a 3D applet from one of our articles at the MathDL Flash Forum:
http://mathdl.maa.org/images/upload_library/3/FlashForum/AS3/surf_graph_rectan.html
Thank you for your consideration. Also thank you for your many articles at the Adobe Developer Center!

Hi Barbara,
This is a truly valuable resource - it is wonderful to have Flash-focused ActionScript 3.0 tutorials out there that help all levels of users. This is wonderful to see!
I have tagged all of your tutorials in our official Del.icio.us account. I will also blog about one of your tutorials shortly.
I think this would also be great for the Developer Center to know about. I think it would be wonderful if some of your content was highlighted there (they focus on the ActionScript 3.0 side of Flash much more than the Design Center). I will send your tutorials over to their Flash editor to look at.
Also, you might be interested in looking at this organization, which does a lot of work in the math/science/teaching and Flash arena. http://www.galaxygoo.org/
Thanks for sending this fabulous resource! And also many thanks for linking to our Video Workshop within your tutorials
November 20th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
Dear Jen,
Thank you so very much for your kind words and for linking to us on your sites. We have been working hard on our site for the past two days to improve the organization of our collection. We added a new tutorial, and we will continue adding new tutorials and development articles. Our site has become quite popular and we feel very motivated knowing that fellow Flash developers use and like our materials. Let’s stay tuned and connected! Thank you very much again. Best wishes to you and your readers.

Hi Jen,
I have been scouring all over Adobe and am wondering about for those who would like to submit a video tutorial. What exactly would the final format be to accommodate Adobe to publish them online? For example, do you require a flv / swf from Captivate, or do a Screen cast from Presenter, or other applications? (e.g. Camtasia studio) What are the required screen dimensions, bandwidth settings etc?
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Hi David,
The video workshop will play FLV files - there are some encoding recommendations, but they can be captured using a variety of applications (such as Camtasia - the main key is to aim for high quality capture), then you can simply encode the FLV using the requirements sent to you by a Design Center editor. They will then test it in the Video Workshop to make sure it plays and displays nicely.
I am no longer working with the Design Center (as of today) because I transferred to the Flash team, so the best place to link your videos is at Luanne Seymour’s blog for now (http://luanneseymour.wordpress.com).
Hope this helps!
Jen.

I´ve been asked several times how to solve this problem.
Let´s say you have folder which stores files with the content of the pages.
You also have an index.php page from which you send requests via url to display a relevant page.
This tutorial explains one of the approaches this can be done. Read it at Freelance Web Designer’s website.
